Habitat
Morays are found worldwide in tropical and warm seas, mostly in shallow water among reefs and rocks.
Diet
Moray eels are carnivores and their diet is other fish, octopuses, squid, as well as mollusks and shrimp. They go hunting mostly at night and their best hunting tool is their excellent sense of smell which makes up for their poor eyesight. This means that weak or dead creatures are easy to find and are the moray eel's favorite food.
Otherwise they hide in their homes until their prey is close enough, and then they launch themselves from the burrow and clasp the prey with their powerful jaws. They are very fast.

Movement
Moray eels are very fast swimmers, because their bodies are smooth and slimy. Morays have small gills, so they have to open and close their mouths to keep water flowing and help them breathe.
Description
Moray eels can be very small or very big. Also, their skin can be many different colors. You can see morays with skin that is speckled, striped, or freckled. They can be brown, green, off white, yellow, black and blue. Moray eels have a dorsal fin that runs down their back, but no other fins, which makes them look a lot like snakes in the water.
Enemies
The main predators of moray eels are other moray eels but also large groupers, barracudas and people.
